DHL Aviation has introduced two dedicated Boeing 737-400 freighters at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport, reinforcing its long-term commitment to strengthening logistics infrastructure in Sub-Saharan Africa. The additional capacity will improve transit times, delivery reliability, and network reach across West Africa and key global trade lanes.
As the only integrator operating a dedicated air network in Sub-Saharan Africa, DHL is responding to rising demand from sectors including e-commerce, perishables, energy, life sciences and healthcare. The new aircraft will enhance connectivity on critical Africa–Europe and Africa–Asia routes, supporting trade growth under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The investment also aligns with DHL’s broader strategy, which is focused on digitalisation and sustainability, including AI-enabled route optimisation, digital customs solutions, and renewable energy and alternative fuel initiatives. DHL says the expansion further cements its role as a preferred logistics partner for African businesses integrating into regional and global value chains.
