A California law firm plans to file federal lawsuits against United Airlines and Delta Air Lines, alleging they misled passengers by charging extra for “window seats” that lack actual windows.
The proposed class actions claim this could violate passenger rights and amount to false advertising. Attorney Casey Olbrantz said the practice is deceptive and easily fixable. While no lawsuits have been filed yet, the firm aims to proceed in the Northern District of California.
Windowless seats occur on some Boeing 737 aircraft due to air conditioning duct placement, a standard design across the industry. Passengers can check seat maps on tools like SeatGuru to avoid them.
