Nose cone of Delta Air Lines McDonnell Douglas MD-88 breaks off in-flight

On 8 July, a Delta Air Lines McDonnell Douglas MD-88 (N906DL) operated domestic flight DL1425 between Atlanta and Baltimore, United States. During the flight, the nose cone of the left hand engine broke off. The crew then decided to divert to Raleigh-Durham airport.

On 10 July, the aircraft was ferried to Atlanta but diverted to Charlotte. One day later, the aircraft finally arrived in Atlanta to resume operations the next day.
