Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-900, tail number N412DX, operating flight DL90 from Orlando International Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, diverted to Dublin Airport on 14 February 2026 following a serious mid-Atlantic medical emergency.

More than seven hours into the overnight crossing, a passenger required urgent medical attention that could not wait until arrival in Amsterdam. The crew initiated standard emergency procedures and coordinated with airline operations to select Dublin as the most suitable diversion airport, given its location and full long-haul handling capabilities.

The aircraft landed in Dublin at approximately 06:30 UTC, where medical teams met the flight and transferred the affected passenger to hospital care. After a ground stop of around three hours for inspections and operational checks, the flight continued to Amsterdam, arriving several hours behind schedule.

The incident underscores the safety-first approach in long-haul aviation, where medical diversions — though disruptive — are executed with structured planning to prioritise passenger welfare.
