Belgian television VRT made the announcement first: the US company Delta Air Lines is expected to stop flying to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson from Brussels Airport for about one year, effective immediately. The Delta announcement comes as Brussels Airport announced the resumption of flights on Sunday, April 3.
One thousand Delta flights depart non-stop from Atlanta Hartsfield, the world’s largest airport and the hub of the company founded in 1924, a major stop for tourists to the United States.
Delta has however announced it wants to keep the flights from Brussels to JFK Airport in New York, more “business” oriented.
This statement of one of the three largest US carriers, and thus a major customer of Brussels Airport, is important because it embodies the will of some airlines to leave the Belgian national airport.
