China Eastern Airlines has placed a major order with Airbus for 101 aircraft from the A320neo family. The Chinese carrier aims to both renew and further expand its fleet, which already consists of nearly 700 aircraft from Airbus, Boeing, and COMAC.
The order marks another boost for Airbus, which last week also booked an order for 100 aircraft from leasing company AerCap. China Eastern Airlines is one of the largest carriers in China and continues to expand both its domestic and international network.
The airline already has significant experience with the A320neo family. Its current fleet includes more than 120 Airbus A320neo aircraft and around 30 larger Airbus A321neo jets.
Airbus manufactures its A320neo and A321neo aircraft primarily in France and Germany, but also operates an assembly line in Tianjin, China.
