On 2 May, a China Eastern Airlines Airbus A350-900 registered B-324W, operating domestic flight MU5406 between Chengdu and Shanghai, China. After a safe flight, the aircraft was taxiing to the gate. In a short video clip that appeared online, the aircraft is seen slamming into the bridge.
According to the airline, a mechanical malfunction occurred during low-speed taxiing: “The crew responded according to procedures, but the aircraft still made contact with the jet bridge; no injuries were reported among passengers or crew.”
Passengers were eventually disembarked safely from the opposite side of the aircraft. The authorities have launched an investigation into the mishap.
