China Airlines has placed a firm order for five more Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, increasing its total commitment for the type to 15. The new aircraft will complement the airline’s existing fleet of 15 A350-900s, which are deployed across its long-haul network.
According to China Airlines Chairman Kao Shing-Hwang, the expansion of the A350-1000 fleet supports the carrier’s long-term growth strategy, focusing on fleet modernisation, improved long-haul competitiveness and enhanced passenger comfort.
Airbus welcomed the follow-on order as a strong endorsement of the A350-1000’s capabilities. The aircraft offers a range of up to 9,800 nautical miles (18,000 km) and delivers around 25% lower fuel burn, operating costs and CO2 emissions compared with previous-generation widebody aircraft, thanks to advanced aerodynamics, lightweight materials and Rolls-Royce engines.
The A350 is already certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030. By the end of November 2025, the A350 Family had secured nearly 1,500 orders from 66 customers worldwide.
