Cathay Pacific and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority have launched a new aircraft livery titled “Spirit of Hong Kong – 80th Anniversary Edition”, designed to showcase Hong Kong’s artistic and cultural vibrancy to global audiences.
Revealed at Hong Kong International Airport, the special design marks Cathay’s 80th anniversary and highlights its partnership with the West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK), for which the airline has served as travel partner since 2023. The initiative aims to promote Hong Kong’s arts and creative industries internationally while reinforcing the city’s status as a global cultural and aviation hub.
The livery appears on a Boeing 777-300ER and features generative landscape artwork by Hong Kong multimedia artist Victor Wong. The aircraft acts as a “flying canvas,” carrying WestK branding and Cathay’s “80 Years Together” anniversary mark.
Passengers on the inaugural flight also experienced a reimagined version of Cathay’s sonic theme, “Song of Cathay,” arranged by Hong Kong pianist and composer Patrick Lui. The updated piece blends modern jazz elements and will appear on selected flights from mid-2026.
The project reflects the partners’ shared goal of bringing Hong Kong’s artistic talent and cultural identity to audiences worldwide.
