Cathay Pacific has resumed direct flights to Adelaide, re-establishing a key link between Hong Kong and South Australia after several years’ absence. The service operates three times per week on modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering passengers a premium travel experience across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins.
The first flight departed from Hong Kong International Airport on November 11, marking the airline’s return to a city it first served in 1992. Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, said the airline is “delighted to return to Adelaide,” describing it as “a vibrant city renowned for its culinary scene, world-class wines, and coastal beauty.”
The renewed connection will strengthen travel, trade, and cultural ties between Asia and Australia, while also providing additional cargo capacity in Cathay’s growing Oceania network.
Passengers can enjoy Cathay Pacific’s signature inflight dining—featuring menus developed with Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurants—and complimentary Wi-Fi for Business Class and Cathay Diamond members, expanding soon to Gold and Premium Economy travellers.
With Adelaide’s return, Cathay Pacific now serves six Australian destinations—Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney—alongside Auckland and Christchurch in New Zealand, operating nearly 100 round-trip flights weekly to Oceania from Hong Kong this winter.
