Cathay Cargo has once again delivered its specialist Live Animal solution, successfully flying around 60 elite showjumping horses from Europe to Hong Kong for the Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show, held at AsiaWorld-Expo from 30 January to 1 February 2026.
The horses were transported on a 12-hour nonstop journey from Liège, Belgium, to Hong Kong International Airport aboard a chartered Boeing 747 freighter. Liège was selected for its central location, advanced cargo infrastructure, and high-quality stabling facilities. The Boeing 747’s spacious main deck and carefully controlled temperature environment ensured a calm, safe, and comfortable journey, allowing the horses to arrive in peak condition.
Building on the success of last year’s operation, Cathay Cargo’s dedicated animal-handling teams coordinated every stage of the complex logistics process, reinforcing the airline’s reputation as a global leader in the transport of high-value live animals and elite equine athletes.
