Buraq Air, Libya’s first private airline, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 10 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, marking a major step in the carrier’s fleet renewal strategy and making it a new Airbus customer. The agreement was formalised at the Dubai Airshow by Buraq Air General Assembly President Fouzi Almiqalh and Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry.
Almiqalh said the A320neo Family will play a central role as the airline modernises its fleet and expands its network. “The A320neo’s efficiency and flexibility will not only be key to strengthening our core network but will also support Medsky Airways, our strategic partner, as we jointly enhance our passenger offering,” he stated.
Airbus welcomed the Libyan carrier into the A320 Family customer base. “This agreement reinforces the A320neo as the aircraft of choice for fleet modernisation,” de Saint-Exupéry said.“We are dedicated to supporting Buraq Air’s strategic expansion plan.”
The A320neo Family remains the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft line, with more than 19,000 orders overall. Offering at least 20% lower fuel burn and CO? emissions than previous-generation models, the family includes the high-capacity, long-range A321neo and features one of the widest cabins in its category.
As with all Airbus aircraft, the A320neo is certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel, with a path toward 100% SAF capability by 2030. By the end of October 2025, the A320neo Family had accumulated over 11,300 orders from 150 customers worldwide.
