Seven people were injured when a Buddha Air ATR-72 aircraft registered 9N-AMF overran the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport (BDP) in eastern Nepal on Friday night. Kathmandu–Bhadrapur flight U4 901 overshot the eastern end of the runway by approximately 300 metres at around 21:10, coming to rest in muddy, grassy terrain.
The aircraft was carrying 51 passengers, four crew members, and one engineer. Among the injured was 24-year-old co-pilot Sushant Shrestha, who sustained head and facial injuries and remains hospitalised. Six passengers suffered minor injuries and were discharged after treatment.
Police said around 70 rescue personnel were deployed immediately, and all occupants were safely evacuated. The aircraft had departed Kathmandu at 20:23. Authorities are investigating the cause of the runway overrun.
