Binter Canarias has inaugurated a new domestic route between Seve Ballesteros-Santander Airport and Lanzarote, marking a milestone as its first mainland connection to a non-capital island.
The service delivers daily connectivity between Cantabria and the Canary Islands, with flights routed via different islands throughout the week, including Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The launch increases overall capacity between Santander and the archipelago by 40% compared to summer 2025.
The route is operated with Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, supporting Binter’s full-service model, which includes carry-on baggage, complimentary onboard catering and seamless inter-island connections. Passengers can continue to other Canary Islands at no additional cost via the airline’s extensive regional network.
The new service reflects growing demand for direct leisure and regional travel and is expected to support both inbound tourism and outbound travel from northern Spain.
With this expansion, Binter strengthens its position as a key connector between the mainland and the Canary Islands while continuing to build out its domestic network beyond traditional capital-to-capital routes.
