Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed its largest-ever aircraft order with Boeing, selecting 14 jets to modernise and expand its fleet.
The order includes eight 787-10s—Biman’s first purchase of the largest Dreamliner variant—two 787-9s for long-haul expansion, and four 737-8 aircraft, marking its first order for the 737 MAX family. The new aircraft will support growth across key markets in the Middle East, Europe, North America, and regional destinations in Asia.
The airline aims to improve fuel efficiency, increase passenger and cargo capacity, and enhance operational performance, with both aircraft families offering 20–25% lower fuel consumption compared to older models. The 787-10, in particular, will deliver lower seat costs and greater capacity on high-demand routes.
This order builds on Biman’s existing all-Boeing fleet and aligns with strong projected air travel growth in South Asia, where demand for long-haul connectivity is expected to rise significantly over the next two decades.
