BermudAir has become a new Airbus customer after ordering 10 A220-300 aircraft, marking the Bermuda-based airline’s first-ever Airbus purchase. The order, previously listed as unidentified in Airbus’ March order book, was officially announced at the Farnborough International Airshow.
The 135-seat aircraft, configured in a three-class layout, will support BermudAir’s expansion across Bermuda, the Caribbean and North America, enabling the airline to launch new non-stop routes and serve additional destinations. Airbus noted that the deal also introduces the A220 to a new operating region in the Atlantic and Caribbean.
BermudAir said the A220 was selected for its combination of long range, fuel efficiency and strong performance at airports with operational constraints, while also offering an improved passenger experience through its spacious and quieter cabin.
According to Airbus, the A220 delivers 25% lower fuel consumption and CO? emissions per seat than previous-generation aircraft. The type can accommodate between 100 and 160 passengers and has a maximum range of 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 km).
By the end of June 2026, Airbus had delivered 526 A220s to more than 25 operators, while the programme had accumulated over 1,100 orders worldwide.
