Embraer has delivered the 2,000th aircraft from its E-Jet family, placing the programme among the world’s three most successful commercial jet families.

The milestone aircraft, an E195-E2, was handed over to Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas at Embraer’s headquarters in São José dos Campos. It is also the 50th second-generation E-Jet delivered to Azul.

Introduced in 2004, the E-Jet family has accumulated approximately 48 million flight hours and carried more than 2.85 billion passengers. Over 90 airlines in more than 60 countries have operated the aircraft.

The family comprises the first-generation E170, E175, E190 and E195, together with the newer E190-E2 and E195-E2. Its success has helped Embraer expand beyond the traditional regional-aircraft market into the small narrowbody segment.

Azul has operated more than 140 E-Jets since launching services in December 2008 with an E190. The airline was also the launch customer for the E195-E2, receiving the first example in 2019.

Embraer said the programme had helped airlines open new markets and connect smaller communities while combining lower operating costs with passenger comfort and high reliability.
