Avinor airports in Norway handle 5.1 million passengers in July as international traffic leads growth

Share

Norway’s Avinor airports handled 5.14 million passengers in July 2026, an increase of 1.1% compared with the same month last year, with international travel providing the strongest growth.

International passenger numbers reached 2.78 million, up 1.7%, while domestic traffic increased by 0.6% to 2.31 million passengers. Commercial aircraft movements remained broadly stable at 53,836, a 0.6% year-on-year increase.

For the first seven months of 2026, almost 31 million passengers travelled through Avinor’s airports, 2% more than during the corresponding period in 2025. International traffic increased by 3% year-to-date, compared with 1% growth in domestic travel.

Performance varied considerably between Norway’s largest airports. Oslo Airport recorded passenger numbers broadly unchanged from July 2025, while Stavanger experienced a slight decline. Bergen Airport Flesland continued its strong performance with 7% growth, while Trondheim Airport Værnes recorded a 4% increase.

Bergen has now handled more than four million passengers since the beginning of the year, 7% more than during the same period in 2025. Avinor attributed the increase partly to strong demand for Western Norway among both domestic and international visitors.

Avinor said the figures demonstrated continued strong summer travel demand despite concerns over possible industrial action in the aviation sector.
