Avianca has resumed flights between Colombia and Venezuela by launching temporary services between Bogotá and Valencia following the closure of Caracas’ Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía.
The airline will operate both scheduled and additional charter flights using Airbus A320 aircraft, providing an alternative gateway for travellers affected by the disruption in Venezuela. Passengers booked on the Bogotá-Caracas route will be contacted directly with instructions on how to travel via Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia.
In addition to carrying passengers, Avianca said it will transport rescue workers and medical personnel in coordination with humanitarian organisations, including the Colombian Red Cross and the Colombian Civil Air Patrol, to support ongoing emergency and rescue efforts in Venezuela.
To assist affected customers, the airline is also offering flexible rebooking options, including free travel date changes, alternative routing via Cúcuta or Riohacha, and refunds for unused tickets for travel scheduled between June 24 and July 15, 2026.
Avianca said the temporary Bogotá-Valencia operation was made possible through close coordination with Colombian and Venezuelan authorities and forms part of the carrier’s broader effort to maintain connectivity and support humanitarian operations during the ongoing emergency in Venezuela.
