On 18 November and for the first time, Avianca Cargo touched down at Brussels Airport. The arrival of the Colombian airline is already the third new full cargo airline this year to start regular services to Brucargo, Brussels Airport’s cargo terminal. The airline is aiming to connect cargo between Europe and South America.

With its fleet of six Airbus A330-200 cargo aircraft (A330F), the airline intends to offer its customers an extended network in Europe, operating a twice weekly cargo flight to Brussels connecting cargo to Amsterdam, the main operation and consolidation center in the continent for the flower industry.

On the startup of cargo flights to Brucargo, Gerardo Grajales, executive vice-president of Avianca’s business units department said: “The main purpose of this operation is to continue supporting the expansion of the flower industry and other perishable products in Latin America, as well as to offer a cargo transportation service to our customers in Europe and Asia to Latin America through our connection center in Miami.
