The National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC) has suspended Avianca Brasil’s air operator certificate (AOC). The struggling airline operated under bankruptcy protection since December 2018. Last month, two lessors decided to repossess 18 aircraft: GECAS (8) and Aircastle Limited (10).
Most likely, the suspension of the AOC is the final blow for the ailing airline. The ANAC decision aims at safeguarding the security of passengers.
