AnimaWings has entered the UK market with the launch of a new route linking London Gatwick Airport and Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, marking a key step in the airline’s international expansion.
The service, which began on March 22, operates six times per week from Gatwick’s South Terminal using Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Positioned as a full-service offering, the flights include Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins—differentiating the airline from many low-cost competitors on the route.
The new connection strengthens links between the UK and Romania, a market driven by a mix of business travel, tourism, and strong diaspora demand. Bucharest is increasingly marketed as a short-break destination, while also serving as a gateway to regions such as Transylvania and the Carpathian Mountains.
For Gatwick, the addition of AnimaWings contributes to continued network growth, with the airport attracting several new carriers as it expands its European footprint. For the airline, the route represents a strategic move to establish a presence in a high-demand international market while positioning itself as a higher-quality alternative in Romanian aviation.
