Romanian airline AnimaWings has filed for insolvency at the competent commercial court in Bucharest, citing persistent technical problems affecting its fleet and exceptionally high fuel costs.
According to the airline, none of its six Airbus A220-300s is currently operational, leaving only its two Airbus A320s available. The resulting disruption and financial pressure have depleted cash reserves, prompting the carrier to seek restructuring.
AnimaWings intends to continue operating a reduced schedule but has warned of possible cancellations in the coming days. It said passengers would be informed about the status of their flights.
CEO Marius Pandel described the filing as a difficult but necessary step to protect the airline’s future. He said recurring fleet problems had triggered wider operational difficulties, compounded by the economic environment.
The supplied report does not identify the technical faults affecting the A220s or give a timetable for their return to service.
