American Airlines will begin a daily nonstop service from Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) to Athens (ATH) starting May 21, 2026, marking its fifth U.S. hub with direct flights to the Greek capital. The route strengthens transatlantic connectivity, allowing travellers to reach over 225 destinations via DFW.
The airline will also resume Athens–Charlotte flights and operate seasonal services to Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. As part of its broader European expansion, American plans new nonstop routes from DFW to Prague, Budapest, Milan, and Zurich, bringing the hub’s total European destinations to 11 for summer 2026, a new record.
Athens International Airport highlighted the route’s importance for business, leisure, and cultural travel, while American emphasised its role in connecting Greece to the U.S. more efficiently than any other carrier.
