American Airlines has inaugurated a new direct route from Miami (MIA) to Rome (FCO), marking its fifth European destination from MIA and celebrating the launch with a ribbon-cutting event featuring Italian-themed festivities.
This new service coincides with American’s largest summer schedule ever at MIA, with over 37,200 flights planned between May 16 and September 2, part of 715,000 flights systemwide, averaging five flights per minute.
The airline is also increasing service from Miami to major destinations like Chicago, Las Vegas, Montego Bay, Los Angeles, and New York, and now serves 170 destinations from MIA, including 90 exclusive routes.
American highlights this expansion as a testament to its 35-year commitment to Miami and its role in strengthening the city’s global connectivity and economic appeal.
