American Airlines has officially launched Chicago O’Hare’s first nonstop flight to Naples, Italy, connecting two pizza powerhouses—deep dish and Neapolitan—just in time for summer. The new daily seasonal route is operated with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin seating.
The inaugural flight took off Tuesday evening with a festive sendoff, complete with Italian pastries, traditional entertainment, and themed decor. The route not only marks American’s debut in serving Italy’s third-largest city from Chicago, but also expands ORD’s European reach to eight destinations on 10 daily flights, including new service to Madrid.
The 20:25 departure arrives in Naples at 13:00 local time the next day, offering easy access to Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and, of course, authentic pizza.
With this addition, American Airlines solidifies its place as the only carrier offering premium cabin options on every flight from ORD, and reinforces Chicago’s status as a major global gateway, just as the city gears up for its busiest summer travel season ever.
