American Airlines Airbus A321XLR

American Airlines has become the first U.S. carrier to operate the Airbus A321XLR, debuting the aircraft with an exclusive three-cabin layout that includes the airline’s new Flagship Suite®, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin. The inaugural flight — AA3 from New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX) — will take off on December 18, with tickets available now for select flights through February 11, 2026.

Delivered on October 22 from Airbus’ Hamburg assembly line, the A321XLR joins American’s fleet as a new standard for comfort and efficiency on long-haul narrowbody routes. Each aircraft features 20 Flagship Suite® lie-flat seats with privacy doors, personal storage, wireless charging, and premium amenities; 12 Premium Economy seats with enhanced recline, leg rests, and upgraded dining; and 123 Main Cabin seats with seatback entertainment and multiple charging options.

Initially operating transcontinental flights, the A321XLR will expand to international routes in the first half of 2026.

Passengers in Flagship Suite® will enjoy priority airport services, curated in-flight dining paired with award-winning wines, luxury amenity kits, and access to the Greenwich Lounge™ at JFK. Premium Economy travellers will benefit from upgraded comfort features, wireless charging, and refined meal service.

Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said the aircraft embodies American’s commitment to “providing a premium travel experience designed for long journeys with comfort and style at the forefront.”
