An American Airlines Boeing 787-8 registered N806AA arriving from Barcelona suffered a tyre failure after landing at Chicago O’Hare on Tuesday, 20 October. All 234 passengers and 11 crew members were uninjured.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the crew of flight AA41 reported a brake issue followed by a blown tyre after landing safely. In air traffic control recordings, a pilot reported that a right brake might be dragging. The crew declared an emergency and stopped on the runway.

Passengers disembarked using stairs and were taken by bus to the terminal.

American Airlines said the aircraft had been withdrawn from service for inspection by its maintenance team. The FAA is investigating the incident.
