62-year-old American Airlines pilot arrested at Manchester Airport: suspicion of being over the prescribed alcohol limit

On 7 February, American Airlines was forced to cancel flight AA735 from Manchester, United Kingdom to Philadelphia, United States after one of the pilots was arrested on suspicion of performing an aviation function when over the prescribed alcohol limit.

A 62-year-old man was detained just before the departure time after concerns were raised to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the pilot has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

The aircraft, an Airbus A330 (N291AY) was towed to a remote position. Passengers were rebooked on alternative flights.
