With 82.2 per cent of flights landed on schedule, in June 2019 Alitalia was the most punctual airline in Europe. The Italian airline is at the top of the ranking even considering the first half of 2019, when Alitalia recorded an on-time performance at 86.8%.
In June Alitalia ranked sixth most punctual airline in the world and this result allowed the Airline to reach the third place in the ranking of the most punctual airlines in the world in the first six months of 2019.
The results were certified by FlightStats, the authoritative US independent society which every month drafts the list of the major airlines in the world for on-time performance, comparing the data of equivalent airlines for size and network.
The analysis performed by FlightStats reported that, in June, the Alitalia on-time performance index was 7.9 percentage points higher than the average punctuality index of world airlines (74.3%) and 11.6 percentage points higher than the average of European airlines (70.6%). Comparing the results of the first half 2019 with the same period of 2018 – when Alitalia recorded an on-time performance at 85.1% – the Italian airline confirmed the place at the top of the European ranking and further improved its position in the world ranking, moving from fourth place in the first 6 months of 2018 to the third place recorded this year, thus confirming an excellent operating performance.
