Alitalia’s take-off record in November saw 86 per cent of its fleet of aircraft depart on time putting the Italian carrier in the top 20 of punctual global airlines. The airline operates 16,000 flights a month, completion factor in November was 99.7%.
Giancarlo Schisano, Chief Operations Officer, said: “The punctuality of all airlines that operate at our Rome Fiumicino hub was severely impacted between May and October by the closure of one of the airport’s runways for maintenance work which subsequently resulted in air traffic congestion.
“But with the runway back in service last month Alitalia’s punctuality record has improved significantly.”
“We are not totally satisfied just yet and we aim to reach and exceed a 90 per cent target of getting our planes away on time which in aviation terms is a challenging task at busy airports.”
