Alaska Airlines has resumed operations after an IT outage grounded its fleet for several hours, leading to the cancellation of 229 flights and widespread travel disruptions on Wednesday.
The airline confirmed that both Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air flights were affected, while Hawaiian Airlines, acquired by Alaska Air Group last year, continued operating normally.
Although systems have been restored, the carrier warned of ongoing delays as it works to reposition aircraft and crews. Passengers are advised to check flight status before heading to the airport.
This marks the second major IT-related grounding for Alaska Airlines in recent months — a similar failure occurred in July, when a hardware malfunction at a data centre halted flights for about three hours.
