Boeing and Alaska Airlines have announced the largest aircraft order in the airline’s history, marking a major milestone as the partners celebrate 60 years of collaboration. The deal includes firm orders for 105 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, with options for 35 more, and five Boeing 787 Dreamliners to support long-haul international growth.
The addition of the 737-10—the largest variant of the 737 MAX—brings Alaska Airlines’ total 737 MAX order book to 174 aircraft. The type will play a central role in renewing the airline’s single-aisle fleet, serving high-density routes while delivering the lowest cost per seat in its category and improved fuel efficiency.
The five 787 Dreamliners will enable Alaska Airlines to accelerate its expansion into long-haul international markets, particularly Europe and Asia. With advanced aerodynamics, composite structures and modern cabins, the 787 offers the range, efficiency and passenger comfort needed for global network growth. Alaska now has 12 787s in its order book, including aircraft already in service.
Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci said the investment supports the airline’s “Alaska Accelerate” strategy, enabling steady, scalable growth while ensuring customers fly on the newest and most efficient aircraft. Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope described the order as a historic endorsement of Boeing’s products and a reflection of Alaska’s strong performance and long-term vision.
The announcement underscores the deep ties between the two Pacific Northwest companies, which began with the delivery of a Boeing 727 six decades ago and now extend into Alaska Airlines’ next phase of domestic and global expansion.
