The Lufthansa Group has officially completed its investment in Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, alongside the Latvian state, bringing the total capital injection to €28 million.
As part of the deal, airBaltic’s Supervisory Board will expand to five members. New appointees include Dr. Alexander Feuersänger of Lufthansa Group, bringing two decades of aviation and fleet management expertise, and Ruta Amtmane, a Latvian legal and governance specialist with extensive banking experience.
The appointments will take effect once airBaltic’s share capital increase is registered with the Latvian Register of Enterprises.
airBaltic currently operates 130+ routes across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus, with hubs in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere, plus seasonal services from Gran Canaria. The investment strengthens the airline’s governance and positions it for further growth in the region.
