airBaltic has launched a new direct route connecting Gran Canaria (Spain) with Ljubljana (Slovenia), further expanding its growing network from its seasonal base in the Canary Islands. The weekly flight operates on Fridays through early April 2026, with a flight time of approximately five hours.
“This new route is expected to attract more tourists from Slovenia seeking sunny escapes during the winter months, while also offering residents of Gran Canaria the chance to explore Ljubljana’s charming old town and vibrant atmosphere,” said Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP Network Management at airBaltic. “We are grateful to our partners in Gran Canaria for supporting this expansion, which enhances the island’s connectivity across Europe.”
The flights are operated by the Airbus A220-300, offering passengers wider seats, larger windows, and more cabin space. airBaltic is also gradually introducing free high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet across its fleet — the first European carrier to do so.
This winter, airBaltic will serve seven destinations from Gran Canaria, including Billund, Ljubljana, Molde, Oslo Torp, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius. The airline’s growing presence in Spain underscores its long-term commitment to the market, where it now offers direct flights from eight Spanish airports: Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, and Valencia.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, airBaltic connects the Baltic States to 80 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus, reinforcing its role as a key link between Northern and Southern Europe.
