airBaltic has introduced a new group boarding system aimed at improving efficiency and the overall passenger experience. Starting this fall, passengers will board in groups based on their seat location and travel class, helping to reduce congestion at gates and speed up the boarding process.
The airline says the change will make boarding clearer, faster, and more comfortable, while maintaining priority boarding for eligible passengers. This aligns with airBaltic’s ongoing efforts to modernise operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
Priority Boarding
- Pre-boarding – Families travelling with children, unaccompanied minors, and passengers requiring special assistance.
- Group 1 – Business Class passengers and airBaltic Club VIP and Executive members.
- Group 2 – Passengers with Economy FLEX tickets, corporate travellers, and those who have purchased prepaid heavy cabin baggage.
Groups 3–5 will then board in order, based on their assigned seating.
About time, I’d say. But this is also just a replica of the standard boarding procedures of all Lufthansa Group carriers (with the possible exception of Eurowings and the leasure airlines). Now that Lufthansa has actually aquired a minority share in airBaltic, the question is whether they plan to stop at that.
