AirAsia X (AAX) will begin four weekly direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen on 14 November 2025, marking its long-awaited entry into the European market. The route will operate via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, offering connections to over 150 destinations and seamless links to AirAsia’s 130-route network.
CEO Benyamin Ismail said Istanbul embodies the airline’s mission to connect continents through affordable medium-haul travel, with added options such as the “Umrah Plus Istanbul” package via ikhlas.com. Passengers will also benefit from Fly-Thru connections across Asia, Australia, and beyond without baggage recheck.
The launch strengthens Malaysia–Türkiye ties, with Ambassador Emir Salim Yüksel highlighting its potential to boost tourism, trade, education, and cultural exchange. Introductory fares start at RM499 one-way (RM3,999 for Premium Flatbed) for bookings made by 20 August 2025, with travel valid through 14 September 2026. Travellers booking via the AirAsia MOVE app can also enjoy up to 45% off checked baggage.
