Air Transat is broadening its international reach next summer with two new direct routes from Montreal to Dakar, Senegal, and Reykjavik, Iceland. The expansion, announced as the carrier celebrates its title as Skytrax’s 2025 World’s Best Leisure Airline, also includes increased service to Valencia, Spain, after a successful inaugural season.
Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Air Transat, said the Montreal–Dakar link meets both community and tourism needs. “We are proud to be the only Canadian airline connecting Canada to Sub-Saharan Africa,” he said, noting the route will simplify travel for Quebec’s Senegalese diaspora, who previously relied on lengthy European connections.
Montreal–Dakar will operate twice weekly from 17 June to 21 October 2026 (Wednesdays and Saturdays), supporting demand for cultural and beach tourism in Senegal.
Air Transat is also returning to Iceland with a Montreal–Reykjavik service, offering up to two weekly flights from 16 June to 27 September 2026. The route gives travellers direct access to Iceland’s volcanic landscapes, geothermal lagoons and long summer daylight hours.
Meanwhile, the airline’s route to Valencia will see an additional weekly flight between 16 June and 8 September 2026, bringing the service to two flights per week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
With more than 45 international destinations already scheduled for summer 2026 — and more announcements expected — Air Transat says it is continuing to sharpen its global offering, leveraging the flexibility of its Airbus fleet and nearly four decades of long-haul leisure expertise.
