Air Transat has announced the launch of a new nonstop route between Toronto and Tirana, marking the first direct air link between North America and Albania. The weekly Airbus A330 service will begin on 18 June 2026 and positions Air Transat as a pioneer in opening the Balkans to transatlantic leisure travel.

The Tirana route forms part of Air Transat’s most ambitious summer programme to date. For Summer 2026, the airline will introduce nine new routes, convert several seasonal services to year-round operations, and increase frequencies on key long-haul and leisure markets. New destinations include Accra, Agadir, Dakar, Reykjavik, Marseille and Nantes, alongside expanded connectivity from Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa and Québec City.

Air Transat is also strengthening its Québec City operations with new flights to Nantes and Marseille, higher frequencies to Paris, and the year-round extension of Fort-de-France services. Increased frequencies are planned on high-demand routes such as Berlin, Istanbul, Lima, Cancun and Brussels.

The expanded network supports Air Transat’s strategy to maximise fleet utilisation, diversify revenues and sustain profitable growth, while offering travellers greater choice and access to emerging and established destinations across Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
