Air Malta has become a hybrid airline and launches a new hand luggage only economy brand: Go Light

Air Malta has launched a new economy class brand in line with its strategy: Go Light. The Maltese airline now offers three economy class brands: Go Light – Go Smart – Go Flex and three business class options: Just Business – Smart Business and Business Freedom. A hand luggage only fare will be available from €39. The airline proudly announced their first step to become a hybrid airline. “This model gives guests the opportunity to travel on a low fare combined with the level of service expected from a traditional full service airline, all at the same time”.

SWISS introduced economy class fares light – classic – flex in 2015, this year KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced light, standard and flex economy classes. But the first hybrid was Brussels Airlines by introducing flex&fast, light&relax and check&go economy in 2014.

The changes introduced today have been implemented following the feedback and comments received from customers. The hybrid model adopted provides guests with a unique platform that empowers them to build a tailor made product according to their wants and needs.

The booking options for the new GO-LIGHT product are varied and one can not only purchase luggage and ancillary services during the booking stage through airmalta.com, but guests can purchase these services at a later stage before departure from the airline’s call centre or at check-in.

This is not the only good news, Air Malta has overhauled all its charges and reduced its lowest fares for Go Light. Furthermore, in order to achieve extra benefits for seat reservation, flexibility, and so on, customers can choose either of the two other economy class products: Go Smart or Go Flex.

Business Class has also be given three new product categories from which customers can select their preferred option according to their requirements. These being: Just Business, Smart Business, and Business Freedom.
