On 8 November, an Air India Airbus A321 (VT-PPT) operated domestic flight AI670 between Bhubaneswar Biju Patnaik Airport and Mumbai Airport, India. Between 26 and 27,000 feet, the aircraft descended back to 22,000 feet and diverted to Raipur Swami Vivekananda Airport. After landing, emergency slides were used to evacuate passengers and crew members.
A fire warning indication on the left hand engine prompted the crew to divert to Raipur Swami Vivekananda Airport. From a video that appeared on social media, sparks are indeed seen coming out of that engine.

One passengers was able to contact a relative: “My entire family is stranded at Raipur airport due to fire in AI670 Bhubaneswar to Mumbai. Can #airindia clarify when they will be brought in to Mumbai. Whether there is any alternative arrangement made by airline.“
