From 1 September 2025, Air India will suspend its non-stop Delhi–Washington, D.C. service due to fleet constraints and operational challenges. The airline is retrofitting 26 Boeing 787-8s through late 2026, temporarily reducing available aircraft. Ongoing Pakistani airspace closures further complicate long-haul operations by forcing longer routes.
Affected passengers will be offered rebooking options via Air India’s U.S. gateways (New York JFK, Newark, Chicago, San Francisco) in partnership with Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, or full refunds.
Air India will maintain non-stop flights from India to six North American destinations, including Toronto and Vancouver.
