Air India has inaugurated a new four-times-weekly non-stop route between Delhi and Rome Fiumicino Airport, marking its return to the Italian capital after nearly six years.
The new service makes Rome the airline’s eighth destination in mainland Europe and its second in Italy after Milan, reflecting growing demand for travel between India and Europe across business, leisure, and diaspora segments.
Operated by Boeing 787-8 aircraft, the route is designed to provide seamless connections via Delhi to destinations across India and Southeast Asia, strengthening Air India’s hub connectivity.
The launch also underscores strengthening economic and cultural ties between India and Italy, with rising trade and a large Indian community supporting passenger demand.
Overall, the addition reinforces Air India’s ongoing European expansion and broader international network growth strategy.
