An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (Flight AI315) bound for New Delhi returned to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff on June 16 due to a suspected technical issue.
The aircraft, carrying passengers, landed safely about 15 minutes after departure as a precautionary measure. Pilots told air traffic control they preferred to remain close to Hong Kong and “not continue further.”
This incident comes days after another Air India Dreamliner crashed in Ahmedabad, killing 241 of 242 people, intensifying concerns over the aircraft model. AI315’s issue is under investigation, with no further details provided by Air India or Boeing. Airport operations in Hong Kong were unaffected.
