Air India and Singapore Airlines have signed a commercial cooperation framework agreement, laying the groundwork for a potential joint business agreement (JBA) that would significantly deepen their partnership.
The agreement, signed in Mumbai by CEOs Campbell Wilson and Goh Choon Phong, aims to enhance connectivity between India and Singapore and improve the overall passenger experience.
Subject to regulatory approval, the airlines plan to:
Coordinate flight schedules for better connections
Offer seamless bookings across both carriers under a single itinerary
Expand route options and network connectivity
Enhance corporate travel programmes
Provide additional frequent flyer benefits beyond current Star Alliance offerings (linking Air India’s Maharaja Club and SIA’s KrisFlyer)
The cooperation could extend beyond the India–Singapore market into other regions, supporting:
Increased traffic through both airlines’ hubs
Stronger global network integration
Growth in tourism and business travel flows
The two carriers already maintain an extensive partnership, codesharing on 61 destinations across 20 countries, following a major expansion in 2024.
This agreement signals a move toward a metal-neutral-style joint venture, positioning both airlines to compete more effectively on international routes while leveraging their combined networks and alliance synergies.
