Transavia has inaugurated a new route between Amsterdam Schiphol and Rabat, marking another milestone in the airline’s steady growth across North Africa. The first flight departed today in a festive ceremony attended by Transavia CEO Marcel de Nooijer and Moroccan Ambassador Mohamed Basri.

The new connection responds to strong and growing demand for travel between the Netherlands and Morocco, serving both leisure and family travellers as well as business passengers. Rabat—known for its blend of modernity, history, and hospitality—joins Transavia’s expanding Moroccan network as its ninth destination in the country.

The inaugural flight carried a special delegation of over 200 participants in the ANVR Congress 2025, taking place this year in Rabat under the theme “Connecting.”

Ambassador Basri highlighted the route as “a reflection of the close ties between our countries,” while De Nooijer noted that it “symbolises Transavia’s role as a bridge-builder between the Netherlands and Morocco,” adding that new, fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo aircraft will support this sustainable growth.

In cooperation with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), Transavia will continue to promote Morocco’s diverse destinations. This winter, the airline will operate nearly 55 weekly flights from the Netherlands and Belgium to nine Moroccan cities—Al Hoceima, Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Nador, Oujda, Tangier, and now Rabat, which will be served three times a week from Amsterdam.
