Dutch trade unions FNV and CNV have walked out of ongoing collective labour agreement (CLA) negotiations with KLM and announced a 24-hour strike set for this Saturday.

The move comes despite continued talks with three other unions and an active proposal from KLM, which includes long-term investment in employees but calls for a halt to further wage increases due to financial constraints.

KLM expressed disappointment, noting that wages have already risen 25–40% since 2019. With global uncertainty and current economic pressures, the airline argues that further increases are unsustainable.

In response, KLM is taking legal action to prevent the strike through summary proceedings. Chief People Officer Miriam Kartman urged FNV and CNV to resume negotiations, warning that a strike would negatively impact passengers, staff, and the airline’s fragile recovery.
