The second storm of 2018 is approaching Europe. The British Met Office already issued a yellow warning for this evening: “A deepening area of low pressure is expected to track east across the UK during Wednesday night and early Thursday. A spell of persistent and heavy snow is expected to develop. 3-8 cm of fresh snow is likely to accumulate widely with up to 20 cm over high ground.”
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is forced to reduce runway capacity on Thursday morning due to the heavy winds. The same winds make it impossible to continue ground handling operations between 10:00 and 12:00. As a precaution, Royal Dutch airline KLM already cancelled 220 flights for tomorrow; the passengers concerned are being informed and rebooked. Additionally, the airline added that “travellers may be affected by delays throughout the course of the day. We therefore recommend that our passengers keep a close eye on KLM.com for the latest information on arrival and departure times.“
