KLM ground staff, represented by unions CNV and FNV, will stage a strike at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Wednesday, September 10, from 8:00–10:00, with a longer four-hour strike planned the following week. The action follows dissatisfaction with a new collective labour agreement signed by KLM and smaller unions.
Unions demand protection of purchasing power, a heavy-work scheme for physically demanding roles, and more permanent contracts. KLM has called the strike “disappointing,” stressing that an agreement had already been reached and that the unions were invited to join.
The strike is expected to cause some delays at Schiphol, though flights will continue to arrive. Unions have held safety consultations with the airport and the airline to avoid risks. KLM is still assessing the potential impact on passengers.
