KLM has commissioned its first new electric aircraft tow tractors at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, advancing its objective of achieving zero-emission ground operations by 2030.

The Goldhofer Phoenix AST2E tractors, leased via TCR, replace existing diesel models and complement KLM’s current electric fleet. They offer greater operational flexibility, with the capability to push back and tow aircraft ranging from smaller types up to widebody aircraft such as the Boeing 777.

Fully emission-free and significantly quieter, the new tractors also improve driver comfort through enhanced suspension. Their introduction delivers immediate benefits in terms of reduced noise, improved air quality on the apron, and a better working environment for ground staff.
